Sony Pictures Working On Twisted Metal Movie

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

A killer clown is coming to a theater near you!

According to a report on Deadline.com, Sony is indeed working on bringing Twisted Metal to the big screen. That means vehicular carnage, Sweet Tooth, Calypso, and the entire Twisted Metal crew are about to get their time in the celluloid limelight.

Reports have mentioned both Avi and Ari Arad (Producers of the Spider-Man trilogy) have signed a deal with Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance director Brian Taylor to write and direct the film based on Sony’s iconic car combat game. It seems that the film will keep as close as it can to the game’s plot, characters, and unique sense of humor/horror.

The film will be about an underground car combat tournament run by mega-mogul Calypso who promises fame, fortune, and wishes-come-true to those who survive the deadly game. Think Death Race, but with a serial killer clown, a doll faced woman, death himself, and a whole bunch of unique and interesting characters.

Those who are worried that the Twisted Metal movie will suck will be glad to hear that director Brian Taylor has made such films as: Crank, Gamer, and Crank: High Voltage; so we can be sure that the TM film will be high-octane, LSD-fast, videogame-flavored action that will certainly entertain.

Now… I wonder what David Jaffe has to say about this bit of Twisted Metal news?

Who should Sony Pictures cast as Twisted Metal’s characters? Let the guessing game begin….. now!

Wedding bells are ringing on the sets of Sony’s Saas Bina Sasuraal and guess who the wedding planners are for Tanya (Aishwarya Sakhuja) and Tej (Ravi Dubey)? They are none other than Shruthi Kakkar and Bittoo Sharma. Confused? To make it clear they are Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh, the lead characters of Yashraj Productions upcoming movie Band Baaja Baraat.

Anushka and Ranveer are going to be a part of the show Saas Bina

Sasuraal and also will be seen performing for the wedding. The performances are not limited to them as there will be Tanushree Dutta and the comedy guru Govinda who too will be seen performing on the show. It is a guarantee that viewers are going to have a great time watching them performing in their favorite show.

But at the same time the lead characters have a different story to tell.

Speaking about the shoot Aishwarya Sakhuja aka Tanya says “Yes, there are stars performing for our wedding but unfortunately we did not shoot with them because we were busy shooting for our episodes. But it feels awesome that they had been modest to be part of our show and perform for us.”

Ravi Dubey aka Tej says “We are in the process of shooting our wedding because of which we couldn’t shoot with the stars and along with people from the film industry. There are Eijaz Khan and Kavitha Kaushik also performing for the function.”

Well, seems like Tej and Tanya will see a starry and everlasting memories of their wedding..

TheMoviesClub.com Launches The World’s First Movie Distribution Co-Operative Managed Online; Movie Distribution Has Been Given A New Twist By It’s Co-Operative Approach

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

(PRWEB) April 21, 2008

Thanks to an online co-operative that lets movie fans buy independent movie rights, TheMoviesClub, creates a new microfinance Movie co-operative that is managed online. For the price of a DVD, movie fans can now join a co-operative that will buy the rights to independent movies, taking Social commerce to a whole new level. Suddenly what to watch in the cinema won’t be just the latest blockbusters, but also a movie owned by the co-operative. Who says that a Hollywood studio mogul knows more than say 50,000 plus members of the public?

Members will be able to discuss and have an equal vote on movie selection, acquisition, marketing, promotion, and all key decisions on the running of the club.

Rather than having the same old movies imposed on the audience this innovative idea lets the public decide what they want. With the community having their say in selection and promotion the best ideas will bubble to the top increasing the likelihood of success, using the principle of Wisdom of the Crowds.

TheMoviesClub.com will acquire completed independent movies and enable our members to invest directly in those movies and share in their financial success. Movie distribution is traditionally an expensive business. With this model anyone can take part. And with a large inherent fan base, and with the low costs of the model then there is every chance for a success for each movie TheMoviesClub releases.

How It Works: Join – Choose – Own – Reward

Join:

TheMoviesClub is a co-operative built on a unique community business model. It is an autonomous association of people united voluntarily to meet a common economic, social and cultural needs through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise, in simple terms, one member one vote.

So no one will have more power than any other member, and all key decisions will be taken by community vote. The running of TheMoviesClub will be fully transparent, and we also let members decide whether they take a share of the profits or re-invest in future movies.

TheMoviesClub is funded by its members as a microfinance initiative.    Contributors become members of the TMC for £15. £13.50 goes towards purchasing a movie, releasing the movie, and other expenditure with the remaining 10% going towards administration of the website.

Once we have our founder joiners in place, TheMoviesClub will then acquire a movie only on the basis that the purchase provides a controlling stake (51%+) of the movie if not 100%. It will be interesting to see how TheMoviesClub develop as it will literally be movie fan powered. We hope to acquire our first movie in the summer, and will begin the planning process at Cannes Film Festival, with a launch at the Edinburgh International Film festival.

Choose:

TheMoviesClub will be looking for this years Pan’s Labyrinth or Little Miss Sunshine, and bringing it to a cinema near you. There are many quality indie movies that are made each year, and either lack a buyer or do not receive sufficient funding to make them a success to the wider public. TheMoviesClub answers both of these issues using the power of Microfinance, real fan power

The site launched in April, with a free registration page for people to let us know they were interested in hearing more. Frequent site updates will follow during May, and a launch event will follow in Edinburgh International film festival as we open up to people joining with full membership.

The bond that can be established between movie fans and filmmakers through TheMoviesClub will be unique.

Own:

As the traditional movie studio juggernaut ponders its massive running costs, a movie co-operative becomes more attractive to a growing number of filmmakers, with no large overheads, no huge salaries, and the ability to hire the best agencies to promote and release a movie. This enables new and better ways for movies to go from completion to their release with the support of the public.

Director Alan Parker himself stated that the future of the movie industry lay in the evolving of distribution and this is the first step for a different business model to take the industry away from reliance on major studios for successful movie releases. The movie market can be profitable on modest sales based on this model, and enables TheMoviesClub members the opportunity to also make money out of it as well.

Reward:

TheMoviesClub builds on how the Internet has slashed the traditional costs of discovering new movies and building an audience. There’s nothing wrong with the basic concept of a distribution label: you need to discover, nurture and market new talent. The problem with the current model is that it is expensive to unearth new movies. TheMoviesClub changes the model. It does not rely on selling a half a million DVDs to make a profit. Members will receive a dividend from the profits of the Movies released.

Members will also receive exclusive benefits including movie premières, online movies, discounts and vouchers and many more exclusive offers from our partners.
